Visiting Southern Wisconsin

Summer time in Southern Wisconsin means a trip to “The Dells”. Wisconsin Dells is the waterpark capital of the world, with several of the largest waterparks in the US. Pick outdoor or indoor for summer fun. The Wisconsin River and Lake Delton nearby are popular outdoor water recreation areas. Kenosha on the Southwest shores of Lake Michigan is Wisconsin's fourth largest city. The beaches of Lake Michigan draw summer visitors for fishing and water recreation. Kenosha's Harborpark is beautiful for a walk, rollerblading and bicycling. You may even see an outdoor concert or other entertainment. Summer is a delightful time to be outdoors in Southern Wisconsin.

Kenosha hosts the 7th Annual Harborpark Jazz & Blues Festival on August 21st, 2010. The beautiful lakefront setting is ideal for an evening of Jazz featuring headliner Marion Meadows. Milwaukee's 11 piece Nabori is also on the schedule along with the Tremper Golden Strings. The Best Western Harborside Inn and Kenosha Conference Center is an ideal location to spend the night or make the Jazz and Blues Festival a nice getaway. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, you won't need to drive. The Best Western Executive Inn on Interstate 94 and Highway 50 is also convenient with easy access to the outlet malls, and Six Flags Great America.

Janesville on Interstate 90 in Southern Wiscjanonsin is called Wisconsin's Park Place. A wonderful town featuring 2,500 acres of parkland with 20 acres of botanical gardens. Janesville features nine historic districts, summer water-ski shows and unique restaurants and shopping. The Best Western Janesville is centrally located for all Janesville's attractions and events.

The 2010 Division 1 National Water Ski Show and Tournament will be held mid-August in Janesville. The local Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Club is the local host for the event August 13th through the 15th. The Rock Aqua Jays also perform through Labor Day during twice weekly water shows at Traxler Park on the Rock River. The shows are free and always entertaining and full of fun and excitement.

New to Southwest Wisconsin in 2010 is the Unnamed Epic, an epic mountain biking race over 75 miles of the Wisconsin driftless region. The Race begins in historic Mineral Point, through Dodge State Park and finishes at Blue Mound State Park. The 2010 registered entrants will have the opportunity to submit names for the future of the event. This exciting challenge gains over a mile in elevation over the course. The Best Western Quiet House & Suites in Dodgeville is convenient for the start and finish of the race. Stay for the weekend and enjoy the indoor-outdoor pool or the Frank Lloyd Wright Museum nearby.
