Anderson Log House
A couple by the name of Lars and Greta Anderson raised 10 children in this two-story log home that was originally located 15 miles north of Eau Claire in Chippewa County. Built in the 1860's, the construction reflects the owners' Scandinavian heritage. Today it is located on the grounds of the Chippewa Valley Museum at Carson Park and is open mid-April to mid-October. Antique Emporium

Chippewa River
This area is rich in history and scenic beauty. The river is navigable for most of its length from the Holcombe Flowage south to the Mississippi River. The 40-mile stretch below the dam at Eau Claire is generally gentle to moderate with adequate flow. Random portages may be necessary in dry weather or late on Sunday when dams up-river are drawn-up. Access is available at road crossings and developed landings. The last twelve miles run through the 13,000-acre Tiffany Wildlife Area. Open year round. Call 888-522-3866 for more information.

Chippewa River State Trail
The Chippewa River State Trail is one of the newest in Wisconsin. The route traces the quiet countryside and broad meanders of the Chippewa River until it connects with the south end of the Red Cedar State Trail. You can learn more about the area’s history at several museums in Carson Park or take in a baseball game at the park stadium where all-time home-run slugger Hank Aaron played his minor league games. Chippewa Valley Museum
At the nationally recognized Chippewa Valley Museum, exhibits trace the 300 year history of the Ojibwa people in the region and tell stories of town builders who arrived during the mid-19th century lumber boom. Chippewa Valley Railroad
A unique opportunity to experience a 1/4 size-working railroad. Coal fired steam locomotives, a diesel locomotive, wooden 1880 style passenger coaches, streamline passenger coaches, a gondola car and one caboose can all be explored. A depot, passenger-waiting canopy, round house, turntable, switchyard and the oldest interlocking tower in the state also may be seen. Hank Aaron Statue
Hank Aaron, who set the major league homerun record of 755 home runs, is honored in a bronze sculpture of his playing days in Eau Claire in front of the Carson Park Stadium. Lowes Creek Trails
As Lowes Creek winds its way to the Chippewa River it meanders through a pleasant valley. It’s a fun place to ride for beginners or riders who want an easy cruise. And, you have ready access to the attractions Eau Claire has to offer, especially if you use Fairfax Park for a trailhead. The two-way cross-country ski trail system has numerous loops and shortcuts allowing nearly endless route variety. Despite minimal signage, it’s simple to find your way around. Trails wind through a mix of oak and pinewoods and grassy fields. There is about 50 feet of relief near Lowes Creek to make you work a bit.
